Brittany and Clay's Stunning Wedding at The Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires

Ryan Williams

With all the glum weather headed our way, there is a great nostalgia that comes from reliving some of this summers greatest weddings. Take Brittany and Clay for example. I’ll let them tell you the story.

How did you two meet? While in grad school in Houston Texas - tinder success story! Our first date was to a Houston astros baseball game where the pitcher threw a no-hitter and then the stadium opened its roof for fireworks at the end.

  • How did they pop the question? We were on vacation in south Padre island in Texas and we went for a walk on the beach at night because Brittany loves to do that. He asked while out on the beach

  • What was your favorite moment(s) from the wedding? Jumping in the lake at the end of the reception in our suit and wedding dress! we also loved to hear each other’s vows. Brittany also drew the wedding invitations and all the decorations at the wedding (including the paper plane programs) so that was her favorite part of the planning process.

  • How long have you been together? 4 years

  • How would you describe your overall wedding experience? INCREDIBLE. with this venue, we were able to have about 100 guests attend a welcome picnic the day before (July 4th) and we all just played in the lake and grilled burgers and went out on boats. It was an amazing day. Then of course the wedding day went so perfectly as well

  • What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding? Don’t stress about anything! The more go with the flow you are the more fun it is. Also get involved in the parts that interest you - like Britt with the art for the invitations and decorations

  • What photography-related advice would you offer to a couple? Trust them!

  • Tell us about your dress! Where did you find it, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one? I first went with a big group of people to a small boutique to look, but nothing felt right. After that, my mom and I happened to go past a huge store in Boston so we stopped in and it was a madhouse in there, BUT I found the perfect dress. I was so happy I did the boutique place first for the experience of trying on dresses, but ultimately found the best one somewhere else. I had it altered by Nicole Wzorek who did an INCREDIBLE job, as I needed a lot of alterations.

  • Did you see each other before the wedding? If not, did you like waiting or would you have rather done it differently? Tell us why or why not! We did not see each other before and I really liked that! I think it made the walk down the aisle that much more special

  • Any tips on what to bring? Tide to go pen! Everyone hugs you while you’re in a white dress and it got stained so quickly!

  • What was the first song you danced to as husband and wife? Father-daughter dance? Mother-son dance?

  • What kind of food was served at your reception? Normal catering stuff, but the highlight was an ice cream sundae bar and a late night taco bar

  • What were you most anxious/nervous/fearful about regarding your wedding day? What was the outcome? The vows! I was so nervous but also so excited to hear what clay had to say. It’s hard to share your feelings like that in front of so many people but in the moment it felt easy to just focus on him and forget everyone else was listening

  • We love to hear about vendors that you particularly loved! List any vendors here and feel free to share your experience. Be sure to include the name of the vendor, their profession, city/state, site, or Facebook page. Kelsey Mozzi, the event planner for the venue (and yes, also the brides sister) is the best there is. I’m not just saying that because we’re related, but she thought of every single detail and took care of everything, making it so easy for us. I also loved having Evonne Tapases from Westfield, MA do our makeup. She is friend from high school that is amazing at what she does. But it was fun to have a familiar face share the wedding day with us. Log rolling catering from Holyoke, MA went above and beyond for what a caterer should do. They acted like the event staff and did all the set up and breakdown for everything, while not missing a beat.

  • Did you find a store or site that had everything you were looking for? Use this space to talk about favorite shops. (Example, where you got your dress and sites where you got your veil/decor/accessories etc.)

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us! We will notify you as soon as your blog post is live on our site!

Four Wings Photography loves featuring talented vendors on our blog! We’ve taken a moment to share with you some of the talented vendors who work their tooshies off to make days like this come together perfect.
